In response to various requests for a HQ Audio version of Whale Song, I've recorded this new take + video.

An ode to my own watery Piscean nature, and dedicated to the Pisces Tribe on tribe.net The piece consists of a few different motifs about the whale, the song starts out with lonely whale calls from the depths echoing out into infinity, then changes to a floaty whale ballet theme section. The first guitar solo floats gently along the ocean tides. The second solo represents the rushing water as the whale dives deep into the depths.

Hey Check out this new band that i am working with,Matt Kollar and the Angy Mob. They are from Huntington Beach just south of Long Beach. They sound like a band that includes Bob Dylan, The Decemberist, and The EELS.
Check out their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/mkollarmusic or if you want to see some of there video's check their YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/MattKollar

Here are a few reviews of them:
Listening to Matt Kollar and the Angry Mob is like watching the sunset from a porch on a plantation in the rural South even if you're in your car sitting in traffic on the 405 freeway. Farewell Adventure! is the new album by indie/folk rock band leader Matt Kollar that's established the band's mellow yet upbeat, driving sound. The vocals of Kollar and his female band members blend together melodically, complimenting the unique sound of accordion, banjo, piano, and glockenspiel just to name a few. Even with all the different sounds Kollar is able to establish a definite yet diverse sound; from songs like "Suburbia Blues" which harkens a modern Southern hootenanny with its banjo and organ to "The Surf Song" whose piano reminds one of Ben Folds Five in their heyday, Farewell Adventure! is a great find. They're a local band with a non-local sound that you don't often hear in Southern California, but at the heart of it is a laid back attitude with a touch of poetry which is something that everyone can appreciate.

More "Farewell" News From The UK

This California based band's album plopped into the old CD player a few weeks ago and has rarely left it since. A nine piece combo fronted by Kollar who writes and sings in excellent fashion, they were a breath of warm fresh air in the cold bunny burrow. Kollar has the knack of writing memorable melodies and, with a wonderful array of backings from the band members, several of the songs here are instant winners. At times the band inhabits some of the same territory as Aberfeldy or Noah and the Whale although scoring less on the whimsy scale.

From the sun kissed folky manoeuvrings of "Cartwheels" with wheezy accordion to the Van Dyke Parkisms of "Surf Song" Kollar sings his heart out with the latter sounding like a rejuvenated High Llamas. Definitely a high point.

There are at least five top-notch songs here with the last three presenting a tour de force. "Who's Gonna Bring The Sun?" breezes along with clarinet and trumpet adding colour, "The Red Wagon" has a tremendous echoing and forlorn piano sound. The closing title song gathers folk influences before freaking out with the band throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.

A tremendous debut and a name to look out for and do have a look at their video on their Myspace page.

April 7, 2008 (Cincinnati, OH) -- Jon Justice will be releasing their long awaited sophomore album, "The Rebound", Friday April 18th at Covington's best venue for live music, Molly Malone's. Shyte Mcflyte, a newly formed Jazz/Blues Hip Hop Fusion group will be kicking off the night at 9:30 sharp. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes for these guys! Entry is FREE with the purchase of "The Rebound" and $5 otherwise.

The new release from Jon Justice is more representative of what he brings to the table as an individual as well as a songwriter and performer. Jon's first album, "Forget About Time", although very good, was admittedly slightly over produced. In his latest effort he has used his current touring band in the studio with him along with producer Phillip Wolfe and an array of great backup singers. This is in contrast to using such well known heavy hitters as Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns on the previous record. You are sure to get your money's worth with "The Rebound" as the total track count comes in at a very impressive 14 songs. "The Rebound" will be available at many of your favorite local retailers as well as at www.jonjustice.com but don't miss out on the very first opportunity to get your copy, Friday April 18th at Molly Malone's in Covington, KY.

The Macpodz are an electrified jazz quintet from Ann Arbor, Michigan. In the traditions of Miles Davis and Frank Zappa, this ensemble pushes the boundaries of rock, jazz and fusion music. Drummer Griffin Bastian and percussionist Nick Ayers drive the rhythm behind bassist Brennan Andes, keyboardist Jesse Clayton and trumpeter Ross Huff. The band coined the term “Disco Bebop” at their first gig in early 2006, after playing a four on the floor roller rink remix of the Charlie Parker tune, “Dewey Square.”

The band is currently on a Spring 2008 tour in support of their newest release; Orcastrate with many dates scheduled throughout the Midwest and Northeast.

In this case they are using the proceeds to rebuild areas struck by hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast of America. If you get 100 nominations, you're entered into a contest to play at the CMJ 2006 showcase in New York City. This Portland quartet's catchy tongue-in-cheek songs garner comparisons to similarly infectious and clever punky bands like Weezer and Presidents of the U.S.A. Smoochknob is led by drummer-vocalist and founder Donnie Rife—formerly of Midwest garage rock legends the Meanies—whose Elton John-on-Rivers Cuomo stylings offer lyrics with truly intelligent and subversive social commentary. The band's forthcoming album, Jr. High Anthems, promises ever more potent smooch for your hard-earned scratch. DAVE CLIFFORD. Dante's. 9:30 pm. $10. 21+."

I am working on a plan to promote indie-artists and bands in India - through various channels like direct marketing & club representation, etc. I am mostly looking at direct sales for CDs (min. 1000 pieces) through a well-knit network of music lovers, which I am in the process of developing. Basically I am open to any genre - which sounds good but is not commercial and yes, eclectic - becoz Indian music lovers are opening to new sounds. We'll rest market in Clubs & then sell to a captive database of music afficianados in major Indian metros. Anybody who has or knows someone with great music to share - and who wants to capture the big Indian market, pls reply to me with details. U can send me ur website, clips, bios etc on parvezagm23@yahoo.co.in

P.S: There are also offers for a few live gigs at select 5star hotels in the holiday (if u happen to be visiting India) season.

Looking to make a big musical bang with all u mates at Tribe !
Although each individual component of the Roaring 20's Masquerade Ball would make for a fun evening out on the town, it's the grandness of this event that sets it apart from all others. The Roaring 20's Masquerade Ball is a Sound & Vision Musical that tells the tale of Nick Fudrich, a Detroit River dock worker during the prohibition era. As with the finest fashion collections, several common threads are used to tie together the individual components of this production: Music, fashion and staging inspired by the 1920's. Actors to give the event its grounding. And a bold narrator.

OK, Here’s the situation:

My cousin is getting married at the end of July, and I have family coming out from the east coast, including my mom.

My mom asked me if my rock & roll band, Plasterkatz, could play in the east bay on Thursday night, July 29th, so all my east coast relatives, who will be staying there, can see us.

Plasterkatz is popular with a lot of places in San Francisco. We play places like The Hotel Utah, The Old Rogue, Hole in the Wall, Brainwash, Beale Street Bar & Grill, & Simple Pleasures. Just this month we’re playing 4 gigs in The City, but I have family members who are bridge/tunnel phobic & can’t brave the trip across the bay (I know – my relatives are freaks!). We really haven’t established any connections in the east bay, yet, and it being July already, most places are already booked on Thursday the 29th.

Does anyone know anyone - or know anyone who knows anyone that has a place - bar, café, club – whatever – where we can play on Thursday, July 29th? The stage would have to be big enough to fit 6 of us - full drum kit, and amps for the electric guitar, bass, mandola & mandolin and 5 mics. We have our own P.A. We’d just need electricity & room for us all. We can squeeze in fairly tight, though. We play great, fun, crowd pleasing music (mp3s at www.plasterkatz.com ), we have the sexiest harmonica player on the planet in our band, we have a following of people who will fill your place & buy your beer/lattes and/or food - and it would make my mom very happy.

You want to make my mom happy, don’t you?

Thanks,
Chris

Just like the post before this one, we have some new MP3s available for your listening pleasure at http://www.deezmini.com. Most of this stuff is improv, but some of you may find most of it hilarious. Our aim is to entertain, not to offend, so if you are sensitive to somewhat vulgar, rude, and crude lyrics you may want to stay away. Any comments would be GREATLY appreciated.
